Jarrod 3rd at the US Masters Jnr Men!!

Hey Everyone!

Just got back from a crazy weekend in Atlanta, Georgia where the 50th Masters was held. Was a awesome event and my first time being invited to ride in the event. Whether wasn't great all weekend, was super windy and rained most of the time. I had a sloid ride in the semis, winning the 6 man semi and going into the 3 man final. I was stoked I made the podium getting 3rd at the event!

I have just got home and getting ready to hopefully do even better this weekend at the First Pro Tour stop! Should be a awesome event, Texas Masterscraft have there own private lake and conditions are always perfect! Thanks for checking out the site and check it out next weeke for more updates!

Regards,

Jarrod Askew

PLEASE SIGN PETITION

Hi Everyone,
I am currently assisting our club to have a petition signed to support Tournament Water Skiing and request that the Gold Coast City Council allow the Gold Coast Water Ski Club to retain full access to their training site.It is with concern that we learn that the Gold Coast City Council have imposed restrictions on the club’s access to their training lake, I need 7 day access to the lake for my preparation for the World Championships as well as being able to hold events and introduce new people to the sport
The Gold Coast Waterski Club and their members are respected within the national and international sporting community and are great ambassadors for the Gold Coast. We believe that upon investigation it will be found that they have no negative impact on the environment and that they have broad local community support.
Please visit this link to help support it, really appreciate your help. Your information is only used for the petition. Please forward this email to as many people that you can to help us support some of the top water skiers in Australia as well as the sport itself.

Touching Bases With Jarrod

Whats Up Everyone!

I finally made it over here to the States after a long couple days of non stop flying! I have been here for 2 weeks almost and loving it!

The last couple days I have been heading out to the projects with Robert Soven, Harley and Dallas Friday shredding the Sesitec 2.0 Cable System! Its been so much fun riding the cable and learning new air tricks! I have learnt a bunch of new stuff, s-bends, switch blind judge, s-bend t blind.
So i guess i am turning into a bit of a cable rat! Hahaha!

I have my next contest that Masters, in 2 weeks and then the first Tour stop just after.

Let you know how it all pans out! Happy shredding

Jarrod Askew

Amber Hits Up McCormick's Cable Park

Tampa Cable, kicker.jpg
This past weekend I was invited to McCormicks Waterski and Wakebaord Cable
Park in Tampa, to judge and compete in their first Cable Wakeboard
Competition. McCormicks is the latest cable park to open up in Florida and it lives up to the hype surrounding it, the huge turn out of competitors was proof of that.

The rails and kicker set up is spot on with a perfect incline rail
and nice long flat bar, a-frame and fun box and three kickers ranging from
small through large for all the boot you need. Unlike most cables systems around the world it operates clockwise, perfect for those left foot forward though seeing I am goofy it did take me a few laps to get use to!

Once the prizes were awarded there was a Freeride session held till 7pm, everyone was having a
great time riding and pushing each other to try new tricks. I rode so long that I had troubles getting out of bed the next day being so sore and burnt!

A big thanks to the staff at McCormicks who made the day run so smooth and were on call if
anyone needed anything. which defiantly kept everybody from judges to competitors happy.

Catching up with Gizie,May 6th

StGeorge Group Shot.jpgAfter the Barefoot Nationals in Mulwala, Gizie stayed on for a week to coach Courtney and Ashlea McDonald, members of the Australian Junior Barefoot Water Ski Squad. Gizie coached the girls before and after school and hung out with Pete O'Neil through the day. The McDonald girls both skied away from back to front 180 turns and have set their goals toward the 2010 World Champs in Germany.StGeorge 3 Up girls.jpg

Two weeks later Gizie had the pleasure of coaching Megan Roberts (also Wing team rider), Riley McKay and Georgia Groen on the Coomera River at Gizie’s home in Queensland. The girls were still on school holidays and spent five days training with Gizie. They achieved their goals for the week with Riley skiing out her back to front 180s, Georgia mastering her back deeps and slalom long line, not to mention both back toes holds on the boom. Megan was the biggest achiever for the week skiing out reverse front to back 180s and a toe front 180 feet to feet; an awesome ski performance from a 14 year old.

Although the barefoot competition calendar has come to a close for the season there is a Barefoot Marathon event in South Australia next month. So a change in training program is required for the next few weeks

Barefooting Bron!!

The paparazzi have been at it again, this time spotting our very own Legend, Bronwyn Wing taking some time out from the office. The girl has still got it!

A Word From Amber

Hey Everyone it's Amber Wing. I have been out of Australia for a month now. Settling into my new home for 6 months in Orlando. Hayley Smith and I have a sweet little apartment that we have set up. I have been riding heaps and having a lot of fun doing so. Have had a couple of photo shoots for Oakley, Pro-tec helmets and Victorian Water Safety Campaign. On the weekend Orlando hosted Wake Games, our first Pro event for the season. Hayley and I both made finals which is an awesome start for the US tour. The next contest is the US Masters and 1st US Pro Tour held over the last 2 weekends of May.
