Paris Whittaker, our female ripper!

Paris Whittaker, one girl with a lot of determination and love for surfing, juggling school surfing as well as taking up wakeboarding Paris is one active grommet who you will be hearing a lot of in years to come. Luckily we managed to hold Paris down for long enough to ask her some questions about her passion.

Coming into winter are your surfing more or less than what you would in summer? Why?
I guess a little less than summer as the conditions are more variable and there is heaps less light available to get out there before and after school. Also I have been wakeboarding after school mid week as there are heaps less boats out at the moment.

What is the best part of surfing through winter?
Probably the fact that there are less people in the water. Also at this time of the year the winds are pretty good without the summer North Easter blowing the surf out.

Do you find it hard to get up early to go surfing?
No I love getting up early. That’s the best part of the day and I guess it why I love surfing so much. Its great watching the sun rise over the ocean in the morning.

What do you enjoy most about surfing?
I love everything about it. Getting refreshed in the morning is a great way to start the day. Also I’m learning new things every surf as I develop my technique. I also like getting out there with all the other regular surfers as they help me and encourage me to surf better and have loads of fun doing it.

Which surfer inspires you the most and why?
Female: Layne Beachley. She got this massive tube at a spot just near my house recently. I can’t wait to get my first real tube.
Male: My dad. He always takes me surfing and put lots of time into helping me. Sometimes he doesn’t get any good waves when we go surfing because he wants to help me.

If you had three wishes what would they be?
1. Travel around the world to surfing destinations
2. Be able to turn back time when the surf is good and I have to get out to go to school

3. Learn how to barefoot like Bronwyn
