Wing Surf Team Photos

We just received some photos from Brad Whittaker of a few Wing Surfers Jordan, Luke and Paris! All still looking warm in their wetsuits!

Wake Team in the USA

While things are getting cold at home the Wing Wake Team has been enjoying the heat across America. Ange Schriber is riding stronger than ever with roll to blinds on the cable and 720s off kickers! After representing Wing at a recent Wake Park World Series event in Texas Ange competed against cable and boat champions to come away with a third place finish. Now in the UK training and enjoying the cable scene we are excited to see Ange's results in up coming events.

On the boat side of wakeboarding the first stop of the Women's Wakeboard Pro Tour saw Hayley Smith take her first USA Pro Tour podium behind Nicola Butler and Raimi Merrit coming in 3rd place. While Amber Wing also took third at the US Masters after qualifying as top seed coming into the finals. Wing joined Nicola Butler and Dallas Friday to round out the Woman's Masters podium.

Wake Games, updates on Amber and Hayley

The King and Queen of Wake series has officially started with the Wake Games at Orlando Watersports Complex. The Wake Games is slightly different to other wake contests as there is a teams aspect to the event. After riders have qualified for the semis or finals the top 10 males riders from 2009 KOW draft all qualifiers to make their dream team. Each rider is awarded points depending on their overall placement, with the highest point scoring team awarded the honours of Wake Games Champions!

Day Two's update from Hayley Smith:
Well today was the qualifying day for us women at my first event of the US season. There was a fair turn out for the women with 6 girls making four heats of four, unfortunately still missing was Emily after having her baby girl Hope. Fellow Aussie, Bec Gange took on her first big US pro event riding confident and clean as did Amber as expected. All three of us Australian girls were thrown into one heat with Barret Perlman which sucked for us, though Amber and myself advanced from our heat.
The highlights for me from this morning would have been Bec's indy backside 180, Anna riding super smooth with her spins, Dallas' tantrum to blind, Barret boosting on her indy tantrum as she always does and Amber's melan off axis 360. Before heading home I got to watch one of my favorite riding buddies Ben Greenwood absolutely kill it out there! ts 720, switch ts 720, big ol' nose grab front flip and slid like a champ! WOOP WOOP!

Now back at home Amber and I are going to take her boat out for some last minute touch ups to get a little more dialed in for Saturdays semifinals! Contest face, contest face!

PEACE!

After Sundays final for the women results were as follows

1st Dallas Friday
2nd Nicola Butler
3rd Amber Wing
4th Raimi Merrit
5th Hayley Smith
6th Anna Hajek

Men's Final
1st Harley Clifford
2nd Bob Soven
3rd JD Webb

Wakeboarding News:

After a relaxed start to the Australian summer, Wing team riders Amber Wing and Hayley Smith have taken the chance to get a stack of time riding at the newly re-opened Cables Wake Park, Penrith and getting boat time in at Black Diamond Wakeboarding School.

So far we have seen both of our girls take one the Liquid Force Rail Jam at their home cable park and Wake Wars in Adelaide. In both events our girls rode strong with their individual styles, focusing on their strong points and analyzing their competition to put them both on the podium at each event.

Rail Jam:
1.Hayley Smith
2.Amber Wing
3.Sophie Hogben

Wake Wars:
1. Hayley Smith

Next up the girls will be attending the WWAA Pro Am held at Stoney Park, Telegraph Point. This is the first year the Pro Am has been run and has attracted riders from South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia and Melbourne! From the Pro Am the girls are heading in separate directions, Amber will be traveling to Dubai for a trip with Alliance Magazine! This is such an amazing opportunity that Amber has been offered, we can't wait to see what presents she brings back for us all here at Wing! While Hayley will be heading up to Hervey Bay where she will be taking charge of an all girls event at Cody's Rail Park! A write up on the All Girls Camp Out will be run in Wake Magazine. Keep an eye out on for both magazines and on their websites to see the story's behind the ladies travels!

Wing Surf Team: The Latest addition & Great Results!

We are excited to announce a new addition to our growing surf team Cronulla local, Rhett Clark. Team manager, Luke Madden described Rhett as “a surfer that loves to compete and travel who is turning heads left right and centre”. Being the youngest male member to join our surfers, Rhett is the perfect addition to the well rounded team.
Keelan Veitch has had an awesome 2009 in the surfing world. Just recently Keelan took a strong 3rd place in the Jesus Pro Am held in Wollongong; not to mention taking out the last Sharks Board Riders event to finish within the top ten of the opens division. Veitch also finished overall 10th in NSW Series.
Receiving an invitation to the International Ocean & Earth Teenage Rampage throughout December, female shredder
April Charles could not have been happier. In the girls 16 and under division, April took on champions from around Australia with earning herself a 4th position in the final with Ellie-Jean Coffey of Crescent Head, NSW taking top honours.
Bringing to an end of the Christian Surfer series for 2009,
Jordan Windenstorm took out the open division in the overall point score series with Luke Madden in 3rd! While in the girls division Paris Whittaker also placed 4th overall. This was an awesome effort in an event that lasted six stops hosting over 120 competitors.
Luke Madden has also been fairly busy while getting the chance to surf with some of the world’s best in between his schedule running the World Junior Champions. Though things haven’t been too hectic for our team manager, who was able to take some time away and travel to Thailand to surf for a few weeks late 2009.
